Service Description

Drumming naturally induces a "primal trance state" if we open ourselves to the experience and allow the rhythm to lead us to a part of our consciousness we do not normally visit. This altered state of consciousness allows us to connect with our intuition and deep inner wisdom via lucid-dream-like journeys, or what might be termed vision quests. You can journey to help bring unconscious material to your conscious awareness, to gain access to energy and a greater sense of vitality, or to receive guidance for difficult decisions. The facilitator provides the drumming. Participants should bring an eye mask or hood suitable for blocking light from the eyes, a small pillow if so desired, and an open mind. ------------------------------------ The timing of this meditation circle will generally follow this pattern: ----FIRST HOUR---- Arrive, greetings, settle into the space. Questions about the process or specific quests. Formally opening the sacred space with a song or invocation. Grounding or mindfulness practice like focused breathing or a guided visualization. Brief narrated journey for a guide or resource - the facilitator makes this journey on behalf of the group, with participants welcome to "follow along" with the unfolding story. Thirty minutes of drumming during which participants embark on their own individual meditation journeys. ----SECOND HOUR---- Ten or so minutes of silent time to make notes about journeys, reflect, or finish a complicated journey. Sharing circle - each participant will be given the chance to share about their journey, should they wish to, and receive reflection from the facilitator. Formally closing the sacred space with song or gratitude. Arriving more than ten minutes late, or leaving more than 30 minutes early, will be disruptive to other participants. We ask that you join us another week if you cannot commit to these parameters.
